Now What's She Up To

Well, I do plan to make a couple more trees. I've done Spring and Summer, so now it's time for Autumn. These are the early stages. I made a little investment at Wal-Mart the other day. See, the last two trees I made have some slightly warped paper on their backgrounds. And I can't always get what I want for backgrounds for pictures. So, in spite of not being very artistic, I bought, water color paints, brushes (just a few) and some water color paper. I assume the water color paper won't warp so much as just photocopy paper. I have had a small amount of painting classes. Very basic. But that's all I really need for some simple backgrounds. So, now I'm racking my brain for what I'll do. For now I want to stay with my same basic theme as the other two. But from here, who knows what wild and crazy things I'll formulate. The sky's the limit.

Petal Pig

Here's Petal Pig from Pam Palmer's Tatting treats. She's a big piggy because I used size 20 thread. I plan to frame her with this blue background.

Butterfly after surgery

I had made the full butterfly and the wings didn't match. So after minor surgery, he's now a sideways butterfly.

Heart Card

This is from Pam Palmer's book Tatting Treats. I do like her patterns. I put it on a greeting card. This was my first attempt at front side back side tatting.

Another rocking horse

I seem to be on a big rocking horse "kick." Get it? Horse, kick. he he. I sold two of my horses to my mom and the baby cradle card. So it's back to the drawing board for me. I'm expecting a bunch of new size 40 thread so I can do more horses in that size. I never thought I'd use thread that small.

Jane's TIAS finished.

Here's Jane's TIAS completed. I always learn something new when I do these. I make mistakes and have to redo, but that's ok. I like the end result. I added a flag to the top.

Hush A Bye baby cradle

I made this for my mom to use for another baby shower. Plenty of new arrivals in her neck of the woods. It's from Tatting Treats by Pam Palmer. I didn't like it until I got the ribbon on it. Now it looks a little better. The rocker is done in pearl tatting. What a pain. I had to concentrate. :o.

Summer Fun rocking horse

This little guy is made with Lizbeth Summer Fun. I don't plan to use that green for the background when I frame it, I just needed something to off set the colors. I just ordered another wack of Lizbeth thread. This time in mostly size 40. My husband is feigning aghast. At least I hope so.

Background paper

I got this nice designer paper at Wall Mart. Thank you SWtrompeter, for the suggestion. I like the little white spots. The frame is a little tight, but I don't want to spend a bundle on frames. An 8 x 6 might have been nicer, but they are in short supply.

Icicles

A friend of a friend of mine is a tatter. She created the icicle on the left and it was on her tree. I wanted to make one, so mine is on the right. It wasn't so easy going by the original to write the pattern.

Antique doily

I saw this doily at an antique store last Saturday. I find it fascinating. Upon first glance it looks tatted, but I finally realized it's crocheted. There are some double stitches in it. The person who made it did not weave in the ends, so there's frayed ends here and there. And it's got some dirty spots. I guess I should have made an offer on it. The price tag was $15.00. It truly needs someone to take it home and give it some TLC.

Paint Rocking Horse

Finally I made one using the size 40 thread, throughout like the pattern calls for. I did enjoy making this  little painted pony. The blue background is just to help the colors show. I'll have to find something to use for the background in a framed picture.

Tea Pot

I'm a little teapot short and stout, here is my handle here is my spout. When I get all steamed up, then I shout, tip me over and pour me out.

Framed

I found a frame at Dollorama and a nice mat at Micheal's that I was going to use for something else, but it didn't work. I was delighted that it fits well for my rocking horse for my mom. I feel the mat sets the picture off nicely.

Rocking Horse

While at my mom's, a friend of her's announced the birth of her grandson. So, mom asked me to tat this for her. It's going in a frame. It's from Pam Palmer's Tatting Treats Two. I mixed up the thread sizes, but it worked out ok anyway. The blue in size 30, the saddle 40 and the rocker 20. This horsey will always remind me of the Tatting goddess, Gina Brumett. She made it a few years back and I've always liked it. I hope it makes a good shower gift.
