Saturday 17 December 2016

These were very fun to make. My hubby and I have been up to my mom's. She's been in the hospital. So having a simple project to work on was handy. Mom's ok. While in emergency she fell and broke three toes. We stayed at her house and then brought her home and took care of her for a few days. Hopefully she will be alright over Christmas. Don't want to repeat that again.

Special Snowflake

I made several snowflakes and neglected to post them. I did just finish this one. It's pretty special to me as it wasn't meant to be one. This is a portion of a doily from Jan Stawasz's book Tatting theory and patterns. I just made one motif and stiffened it for a snowflake. I belong to an art club and they wish to have a gift exchange of something from our craft. I'm not a very good painter, but got positive responses when I mentioned I was a tatter. So I hope this one will take some interest.

Christmas Angels are Gathering

Well, here's my first four Christmas angels for Christmas market next month. I call the third one Lucy. She's got some big eyes.

Thursday 13 October 2016

Been crochetting

This is what I've been up to lately. I'm a sucker for variegated colors. These are mostly children's hats. I hope to sell them at Farmers Christmas market. Now it's time to get to some Christmas tatting.

Thursday 15 September 2016

Jane's cute little robin has become a blue bird. Guess I should put him on a card.

On The Hats Again

Well, Christmas Farmers market is coming up fast. So, I've been working on hats again.

Some more treasures

Another thing I found at The Twisted Barn was this book. Tatting Farm Animals by Christel Weidmann. It's an intriguing book.I like the cow and the bunny rabbit. There's also a pattern for a bull, a  hen laying, several chicks and a sitting rabbit.

And then there's this. I was searching through mom's living room drawer looking for something else and found this. She'd received it years ago with some leftover yarn. I supposed it's for holding a ball of yarn. Great little devise. Well it works good as a tatting shuttle too. Not as good as one with a hook on the end. But that's just my taste.

Major Find

My DH took me to Rocky Mtn House, on the way to visit mom (out of the way) as I'd heard about this great thread and yarn shop. I so wanted to check it out. The Twisted Barn. WOW! What a find. So, I was gonna buy 4 balls. Well.....then I saw more that took my interest. I think I only made two unintentional duplicates. The Blue Ice was intentional. I want to make snowflakes and angels.
I wound up with 27 balls. Yipeee! Such fun fun fun.
Then we went to mom's and spent the weekend at a nearby lake, camping and fishing. It was nice for mom because she could come and roast a smokie and a marshmallow. Our son and his wife and our daughter were able to be there also. So we had a wonderful time.

Monday 29 August 2016

Colored butterfly

Got this one finished. Jane Eborall helped me with the body. So now I know how it's done. I'm not sure whether to put it on a card or a hat.

Monday 22 August 2016

Butterfly

I had a little trouble with this one. From what I read I'm supposed to start the body with one antenna and finish with the other antenna. But I didn't know how to do it that way.

Thursday 18 August 2016

Squirrel

This is another pattern from Inga Madsen's book. They are such fun to make.

Wednesday 17 August 2016

I added a puff of smoke and an edging to my hat. And I'm keeping it for myself.
I also tatted Mr. Wiskers here from Inga Madsen's Tatted Animals. I really like her book. When I first got it I felt overwhelmed and unsure I could make her patterns. But they are not hard at all. It does take concentration. But what good thing doesn't.
For my Alberta tatting friends, I found another shop that has Lizbeth thread. She has some size 20 and some size 80. It's called The Crafty Lady 5009 50 St, Lacombe. Her contact is craftylady.ca and you can order online. She didn't have her thread up on her site, so I emailed her about doing that.

Choo-choo hat

This one is for me. My hubby and I were in Carson city last year and I found this cute, pink engineers hat. I've had it in my head to tat Sherry Pence's Piccadilly Express for it for quite some time. Finally got to it. I think I might tat a puff of smoke coming out of the stack.Should I tat an edging for the brim?
Sherry's blog is www.LadyShuttleMaker.blogspot.com.
I attempted a selfie with the hat on. I look like the wicked engineer lady.

Tuesday 9 August 2016

Child's Hat

I managed to complete this child's hat this morning. I have some fabric glue I like, but it's very stringing and awkward to work with. It's like a runny nose. :(

Monday 1 August 2016

A Great Find

My hubby and I went to a fun Antique Days at Leslieville, Alberta this past weekend. To my delight I found a lady who demonstrated her Auto Knitter Circular Sock Machine and (here's the big thing for me) she also was demonstrating......TATTING. That was a first at a antiques weekend for me. Well, she had some Lizbeth thread there and we had a nice chat. She told me that there is a place north of Rocky Mountain House called the Twisted Barn. They have all sorts of supplies for needle crafters. And included in that......  a FULL STOCK OF LIZBETH THREAD. They will ship it as well. The site is  htt;://www.twistedbarn.ca/Now that's great news for us Albertans. I hope to go there sometime and check it all out. And I wanted to pass that on to my fellow tatters and needle crafters.

Romantic heart

I just finished this (one of my favorites) heart last night at Farmers Market. It's been so long since I've done one that I had a bit of a struggle. Must make more. Yes, I can do that. I went to the doctor for the shot of quartizone. He couldn't guarantee that the shot wouldn't just make things worse. And the thumb is improving. Voltaren has helped some. So, no nasty shot YAY.

Thursday 28 July 2016

Not tatting, but fun

Nope, it's not tatting. We were by the river a while ago and found some nice round, flat rocks. My daughter and I had fun making lady bugs.

Wednesday 27 July 2016

The three Amigos

Here are my three amigos. Friday I'm to get a shot of quartizone in my thumb. So I have to refrain from tatting for a week after that. So, I've been doing a little tatting so I can have some new stuff for Farmers Market.

Wednesday 6 July 2016

Home Again

We are back from our vacation. Here's a pic of my family and me at our son's wedding. He looked so handsome and all grown up.

I still have a stiff thumb. But, I'm doing a little tatting anyway. I'll be back to Farmers Market Thursday. These need a little stiffening yet. Much to do when we return from a vay-kay.

Monday 20 June 2016

On a vacation

Our son's wedding was June 11. I tried to post a pic but we are on holodays. We are in Montanna right now. I don't think the KOA camp will let me include a pic. Will try again.
We had a wonderful time at the wedding and now on our holiday. We were in Butte and now
are in Missoula. Hopefully we can go to a Hobby Lobby in Spokane, Wash. tomorrow or the
next day.

Monday 30 May 2016

Still Not Tatting

I'm still unable to tat because of my strained thumb. I've had a couple acupuncture treatments, but it's still not 100%. I have a prescription for something like Voltaren only 10 times stronger. It helps a lot. But I sure don't want a repeat performance on this thumb. So I continue being tatterless.

Monday 9 May 2016

Little Hat

I'm still having problems with my thumb. Although it seems to be getting slowly better. I found an easy crochet pattern for a baby hat. So that kept me sane for a bit.

Tuesday 26 April 2016

Rainbow bookmark

This is from the Handy Hands catalogue.
Done in Lizbeth Rainbow Splash.

A few cards

I'm still struggling with my over stressed thumb. But if I wrap it up a bit I can do some tatting. I made the big flower for my mom for mother's day. The rest I hope to sell at Farmers Market.

Monday 11 April 2016

Desert pals

Well, that last doily made my right hand sore. Too much attaching to the previous lock joins.
Got a little carpel tunnel. So, I'm painting a little. My husband has been making lovely barn wood frames for my work.

Tuesday 29 March 2016

Flowerpiece

This is the flower piece from Mary Konior. It's for a friend. It's 8 inches across. Done in #20.

Wednesday 16 March 2016

Ecru glass mat

I have a lady friend who likes ceramic rabbits. She has 3 cute ones that she displays together. So I made this larger glass mat for her to put them on. She can't wait to get it.
I doubled the pattern.

Friday 4 March 2016

Dragon #3

My scanner is not doing this background justice. I guess because the paper is warped. There is more blue sky than that.

Tuesday 23 February 2016

Elly's dragon

My daughter's never been very interested in my tattings. But when I made the Regal dragon, she finally took an interest. So, she asked for this red and purple guy. She wants to paint her own background. So you can see the black helmet laying there. She wants to paint a pile of ashes, where the knight got burnt up. And the brave princess is now holding a sword. This time I left the princess with some long hair.

Saturday 20 February 2016

One more time

Sorry, I keep posting this. My friend wants it to frame and put in her granddaughter's bedroom. She's making a colorful frame and mat for it. She asked me to put a sword in the princess' hand as well. As her granddaughter is a little independent sort.  Not inclined to let a male do her battling for her. Also, I added a flag on the castle and some flowers. I bought a book on painting with water colors. I'm hoping that one day I'll be much improved with my painting.

Thursday 18 February 2016

Regal dragon with background

There's the finished product of the Regal dragon with a bit of a background. He doesn't look very ferocious. That's ok. I think he just wants to make some friends.

Tuesday 16 February 2016

Regal dragon

This is Regal Dragon from the book Flights of Fantasy by Martha Ess. I hope to paint a bit of a background for it. So I'll post it again when it's finished. The pattern is very fun and not hard to follow. The rearing horse I did on a previous picture is from this book also. A very fun book.

Wednesday 10 February 2016

TIAS

Got my TIAS bunny done. He started out blue. But I had a lot of trouble figuring out the second ear. Sometimes my brain just goes on vacation. I tell people I'm somewhere between a blonde and a senior. So, I started over. Jane creates some very cute tats.

White stallion

Well, my daughter and I took some painting classes. I wanted to be able to paint some backgrounds for tatting that I wanted to frame. I tried not to put in too much detail so as to not take away from the tatting. The "mane event" as it were. :). So here's a bit of my efforts. I know, don't quit taking art classes.
No tatting for this one. But it was fun to try.

Monday 1 February 2016

Finished doily

YAY! I'm done. This is a gift for a good friend. She knows it's coming and is looking forward to having it on her new wood table.

I just finished this cute snail from Inga Madsen's book "Tatted Animals"Inspiration from Umi n Tsuru.

Progress on doily

Well things are still progressing on this doily. Two more rows to go.

Tuesday 12 January 2016

Mtn meadow with trees

Well, some folks told me to put something in the vacant space. So, I tried my hand at some trees. I hope this is done now.

TIAS

This is Jane's Tat It and See. Well, I think it's a kitty cat's head. Seee!

Saturday 9 January 2016

Mountain Meadows

My daughter and I took a water color class. My picture needed a goat and some flowers.
