Monday 30 December 2013

I'm finally getting around to posting these. One is a decoration I made and gave to a friend. I saw the idea on In Tatters a year or so ago. I apologize, I don't know who designed it first.
Then there's the Flower Medallion from "Be-Stitched." On the pattern was advice to make the outer row in green to offset the flower in the middle. I like it.

This is just some fun. It was what I found inside the lid of a bottle of pancake syrup. Doesn't it look like a Kwola bear?

Curly

This is Curly from the Three Stooges. What's that on his pants? That would be pretty on a blouse.

All angels and snowflakes flew

Just a note about last Saturday's Christmas market. I sold every angel and snowflake. I had a little
Christmas tree with all my tatted ornaments on the front of it. Everyone sold. Even the angel I'd made a mistake on and had her rather full figured. Wish I'd known that was going to happen.

Blue ice snowflakes

Here's a small blizzard I've tatted up just lately. I wanted some for Saturday's Farmers Market. They are made with Lizbeth Blue Ice. I also painted them with sparkle. I wish it showed up on the picture.

Lots to share

Here is the latest member of the choir. I call her Angelica. She's made with Lizbeth Blue Ice.
Next is the gingerbread house my daughter and I put together yesterday. It was lots of fun.
And here's a cold sunrise picture I took a few mornings ago.

Carol and Belle

Here are my latest additions. They were created by JoAnn Engelbrecht of Colorado. What a talented lady.

Another Member for the choir

Here's another choir member. This pattern is so much easier to figure out. The colors aren't showing up very true. This is Lizbeth...Jewels.

Angel #2

This is JoAnn Engelbrecht's angel that was published in Crafting Traditions, many years ago. I'm enjoying using colors for them.

Hankie doily and Christmas angel

This hankie doily was made by my aunt. She passed away about 15 years ago. She was a tatter. I didn't learn from her. Wish I had. This was such a smart idea. Using a hankie in the middle. It's not tatted, but a person could use tatting to do it.
This is Joanne Engelbrecht's Christmas angel 2012. I'm not sure if I did something wrong, but mine turned out a bit full figured. My daughter named after the hippo from the movie Madagascar. Gloria.

Some Pictures

Here' my hubby out scrounging about in the autumn colors.
 I got another hat finished.
Here's a lovely young buck on my mothers farm. I won't tell where you are little deer.

Trio of Rings

This for another hat brim. I found it in Workbasket March 1964. Whoa, I was 10 years old then. How about that?

Some Christmas Tatts

This is the new Lizbeth thread Arctic Waters.

Rainbow Splash motif

I thought I'd show this one before I put it in a coaster. It's my Lizbeth Rainbow splash. It's so fun to play with.

Thursday 3 October 2013

3 sizes

Here's a size comparison. Fox's pretty motif is on the left. She used her "Perfect Quilter" thread. There's a loonie in the middle (not a penny). The one on the right is size #30 DMC and on the bottom is #20 Lizbeth.

Another Cross

Here's another cross all finished. I'm getting better at concentrating. Not perfect yet.

Two More Additions

Two more pieces. The cross is in the new Rainbow Splash from HH. I always have trouble making this cross. I don't keep enough careful watch to see where I'm supposed to attach the rings.
The other can go down as my first snowflake of the season. I've painted sparkle on it, but it's not showing up in the picture.

Pretty Things from Fox

Pretty things arrived from Fox today. 2 hankies, a dainty tat and some Perfect Quilter thread. Sooo pretty. Thank you so much Fox.

Some coasters

Here are my first two tatted coasters in an acrylic coaster. I'm hoping they'll sell at Christmas Farmers market. More to come.

Little Flower

My mom loaned me one of her light summer nighties when we stopped into her place before carrying on for a camping trip. I was glad to have the light nightie as the nights were hot on that trip. Before I return it, I've made a little tat and sewed it on. The thread it rayon, Lily brand. Not fun to tat with. It's extremely slippery and even likes to slip off the bobbin. Well, mom will like it.

Hats #24 and 25

Yes I went through my blog and these are number 24 and 25. The mauve hat is for me. I bought it at Crater Lake, Or. Lovely place. And I wanted to have some new tatting on a hat. My old one is getting a little doggy looking.

My Great New Statsh

Well here I am with all my new colors. 26 new balls of Lizbeth to play with. What fun.

Rainbow Splash Bookmark

Well, there's the new Lizbeth "Rainbow Splash" in a bookmark. I love the colors. They are so bright and colorful. I made this while camping over the weekend.
I think I nagged Handy Hands for nearly a year to convince them to make it.

More Jane's Bookamarks

These were revamped into crosses by Grace Tan. I enjoy making them. The one on the left, I made a mistake at the bottom, so I just made the same one on the top.

3 more bookmarks

This is what I got done while camping the past two weekends.  Both camping excursions included tractor pulls. My husband loves tractor pulls. I'd rather watch paint dry. So, I was very happy to stay at our trailer and tat. The spiral bookmark on the right side gave me some grief. I had made the whole thing and then realized that the first two rings were hooked up wrong to the next clover. Ahhhhh!. I was able to pick them out (backwards) and remake them. Not so easy when there was no picot to hook them to. But, I sure will be a lot more vigilant next time.

Butterfly and Snowflake hats

Got some more hats ready for today's market. I got the butterfly from Sarah Wood. It's a graph and was a little erroneous. But, I got it figured out. I utilized the split chain and ring methods. Always good practice for me. The white hat is a snowflake from Jon Yusoff's patterns. My thread is Lizbeth,Spring Garden.

Bits and Pieces

I spent last week at my mom's, about 120 miles north. She is 90 and still lives on her farm. The only animals she has are a few stray cats that have adopted her. Why not, the food's good. I only had a couple balls of thread with me. Something I will take note to rectify on the next visit. Anyway, I puttered away with what I had for colors. The two snowflakes are from Jon Yusoff's patterns. It all will someday brandish a cap.
Tonight is Farmers Market, but right now, (9:00a.m.) it's raining. I hope it will stop by early afternoon.

Flower barrettes

I made these and glued them to  barrettes. The pattern is on In Tatters under new ways to use tatting. On the last page.

Wednesday 10 July 2013

Curtain tie backs

I recently bought some new curtains. While on vacation, I worked on tie backs for them. Here's one done.

Saturday 1 June 2013

More crosses

Here are two more crosses. This time I had trouble remembering the two side by side split rings near the end. I had to cut off the second half and redo it on one. The other I had to cut and tie a bit and then could continue.

Tuesday 28 May 2013

More Bookmarks

The cross bookmark is made from a pattern from the two Janes. Can't wait to make more of those. The colors show up so nice.

Monday 20 May 2013

Queen of Hearts

I plan to put this one on a hat with the braid. It's Queen of Hearts of "Tatting with Visual Patterns" by Mary Konior. The thread is Lizbeth Raspberry Frazzle.

Monday 13 May 2013

Two Jane's bookmark

I've been having lots of fun making this. I had to share before I'm even done. It's from Jane Eborall and Jane McLellan. They got it from a Anna Burda magazine in 1984. I'm planning to put it on a cap rim. It's Lizbeth #20 Raspberry Frappe.
