Ugly Bunny has found a home

Just a quick note, to anyone concerned about my ugly bunny. I gave him to my gal friend who loves all bunnies. She adores him and will give him a happy, forever home. So, no worries, he will spend his life in a loving, happy burrow.

I got this idea to make a three dimensional bunny from Mark Meyers pattern. His flat bunny is cute. Mine, however, belongs to the Ugly Bunny club.

I was fiddling with Anne Bruvold's Christmas hearts. I put three together, thinking it would make a fan. It turned out to make a butterfly.

This is from Pam Palmer's book Tatting Treats 2. It took me awhile, as I had some comprehension problems. Another time, I would start the arms from the inside out, rather than from outside to in. I appreciate that she included diagrams, as that helps with where to attach at a picot, sometimes.
It's made from Lizbeth #20, Root Beer Float. I added some google eyes and put a little bow on it.

Sea Horses

These cute little guys were designed by Debbie Arnold in 1999. Thanks Debbie. There's lots of SS and RW in them. I hate having to set it down once I start, as I loose track of which shuttle and side I'm supposed to be on. Even if I've set it out like it should be when it's time to get back to it.

Butterfly Heats Doily

I had made three of these and got a suggestion to make more and attach them. Worked out ok. Took some thinking on my part. Not an easy task (thinking).

Framed Rocking Horse

I decided to put the rocking horse in a frame. For the background, I got a background picture, (from the internet) of blue sky and clouds. You can get free power point backgrounds. Then placed it behind the rocking horse.

When Gina Brummett made this little guy a couple months ago, I liked it so much, I sent for the book. (Little did we know) It's from Pam Palmer's Tatting Treats Two. I didn't have the size #40 thread, so I used 20. I've sent for some 40. It's on sale right now, Lizbeth, at Zig Zag. Mine is not so dainty. But, he's my first try at it, so I'll have to give it another go, when I get my thread. It would make a very nice picture in a baby's room, or sewn onto a patch on a patch work baby quilt. I'd put his tail on upside down, so off that came to do again. My only beef with this pattern is that it would end with a chain just sitting in space and I wasn't told to attach it somewhere. That comes with more experience, I guess.

Ocean Sunset Fishy

I did some tatting while visiting my mom. She admires my work and I like fans. The first is the Gold Fishy designed by nami. It's done in Lizbeth Ocean Sunset.

This is three of Irene Woo's Butterfly Hearts. I didn't attach them, as Jane had done with her pretty hearts. It would look nice though. I hadn't taken many balls of thread with me, so I was glad to get back to my stash. I did have a good time with mom though. We both love to play crib, so there was lots of that going on.

More fun with Heart's Desire

I've shown the top one before. Today I glued it to a card and added some beads. I hope they'll show up. The bottom is just a little fun with an unexpected color combination.

TIAS Day 11

My little guy looks like he's in a rush for greener pastures too. I learned a hard lesson. Each day I've finished one days addition, make note of how it's supposed to sit for the next session. Because I leave it for a few days, I forget which way it's supposed to be turned and which shuttle, sometimes, as well. So today, I did it once and it was backwards, so I had to do a cut and tie. Definitely some lessons learned on this little guy.

I'm Getting a little Better

I am getting better at making these lovely Heart's Desire motifs. They were designed by Susan K. Fuller and the graph was put on paper by Frivole. I learned to pull my chains in alot, to make it neater looking.

Well I actually picked the last two rows out, because they looked funny. Lock joins are a bearcat to remove. I was glad to see some other day #8's posted. It gave me a better concept. So, there she be.

Butterfly and Heart

I had trouble photographing this hat. Where it looks like the thread is white, it's actually a nice light turquoise. It's Lizbeth # 106. The heart is Irene Woo's design called Butterfly Heart. And the butterflies are a design from Monica Mancenido.

Just a Little Thingy

I was making wings for my Christmas angel, when at the end, I discovered a mistake. My girlfriend still liked it, so she said if I'd finish it (however), she'd take it. This color combination was my first from HH, and it's still my favorite.

I'm a little embarrassed to submit my TIAS. I've seen the others, and they're nice. Mine is a little sloppy. But, I've learned a couple new techniques, anyway.
Also, I broke the plastic hook on one shuttle. Rough old bird, I am.

Viva Las Vegas

No new posts for a while. We are off to Las Vegas for a short visit. We hope to take a bus trip to Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam as well. Maybe I'll post a picture or two when I get back.

tatted snowman

This little guy is a combo of two different patterns. The body is from The Complete Book of Tatting by Rebecca Jones and the hat you'll recognize from Jane Eberoll. My 22 year old daughter is very disinterested in my tattings and really doesn't want a snowflake or a bookmark. So, when I asked her what I could make her, she said, "a snowman." Well, I took up the challenge. Some of the patterns in this book are hard to see because the drawings are very small.

This is the last of the snowflakes for this year. I'm happy with the top one. I used three small gold beads for each picot.

Jane will be so proud of me. I got right beady with these. I'm still tatting snowflakes for gifts. I wanted to have these ready for my aqua size instructor and another for a good friend, who admires my tatting.

A tatting from a long time ago

This is a tatted, large, doily I did as a Christmas present years ago for my mother-in-law. When she passed away, I got it back. I need to take a better picture of it. But it needs some pressing. It was a lot of work, because I made lots of mistakes that I had to cut out and redo.

I finally got these done and stiffened. I put some frosty sparkle on them too. The bell is my first try at adding beads. The three kira's stars are for a woman who wants them for her three daughters.
